Beth began her work at Fuente Nueva as a parent volunteer when her oldest son enrolled in the first kindergarten class. As the school developed, Beth designed and implemented an Extended Day program. In 2005 she became the “lead petitioner” for Fuente Nueva’s Charter Petition and later accepted the position of the Charter Director.
Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University, Beth gained her Pennsylvania teaching credential in 1992. After experiencing the constraints of the public education system, Beth left the classroom and worked for several years in a non-profit mental health services agency. After her three children were born, she dedicated herself to the role of stay-at-home mother.
When Beth joined the Fuente Nueva team in the role of Charter Director she gained valuable on the job experience as an administrator. Since her start at FNCS, Beth has gained her California Teaching Credential, authorization to teach English language learners, school business manager and finance training, and the all-important Certificate of Achievement from the Charter School Leadership Boot Camp through the Charter School Development Center.

A Note from the Director – March 2021
Dear Families,
We are very excited to have students back on campus, and that official date is starting to come into focus. The latest board approved plan for reopening states that we will reopen once all staff had the opportunity for their vaccine shots to reach full efficacy (7-10 days post second shot or 5 weeks from first shot). This puts the target date for the start of the hybrid model in mid-March.
Knowing we have had target dates before; I suggest that you share this information with your child with the understanding that the date will be made final once all teachers have had the offer of the 2nd shot. We plan to share with kids that the date is coming but that it can still be impacted by vaccine availability.
As we move closer to this date, we know students will need to prepare emotionally and physically. Staff have worked hard to be ready and we are thrilled to feel the reality of what is to come. Teachers are crafting new strategies to meet the demands of the hybrid model. This will be yet another entirely new program. Communication and patience will be key as we learn this new normal together. Thank you for all your support and patience as we move forward!
Una carta de la directora – marzo 2021
Estimadas familias,
The COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t have to halt all of your outdoor fun.
As the pandemic continues, it’s important to take care of yourself, your family, and those around you. At the same time, well-being also includes doing things that make life worth living. With the right information, you can make thoughtful choices about ways to have fun outdoor activities to enjoy. Being outside offers other benefits, too. It offers an emotional boost and can help you feel less tense, stressed, angry or depressed. And sunlight can give your body vitamin D, too.
When you’re outside, fresh air is constantly moving, dispersing COVID -19 droplets. There are steps you can take to gather with friends and family outdoors while keeping your risk of coronavirus transmission low. It should be outdoors with distance. Plan activities that don’t require close contact and remember to wear masks and bring hand sanitizer.
And don’t let cold, rainy weather stop you from being active outdoors! Dress in layers and protect your head, hands and feet. Then head outside for a hike in one of our county’s many trails, explore our rivers, go beachcombing (I’ve found tons of sand dollars, agates, and other treasures), and explore the amazing tide pools close by ( see pictures), to name a few. And aim to keep a positive mindset about winter. This may help you to enjoy the season and winter activities more.
Even just a small group of friends hanging out outdoors while social distancing and wearing masks can preserve friendships, make new ones, and be fun! Children of all ages can connect with others outdoors, which is safer than being together indoors.
Here’s one of the super fun activities I’ve shared with friends and family during the pandemic:
Drive-in movies: It’s something many people can enjoy together with plenty of physical distance. Make your own drive-in movie theater right in your backyard. If you have a sheet and a projector and plenty of snacks, you’re in business. To make one, all you have to do is follow a few simple steps, and then you can have a fun night with family or a socially distant gathering with friends. Tips below.
