Reader’s Theater Enrichment Teacher
(Temporary Position)
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, with hours varying during the program period. Initial weeks will have fewer hours, with significant increase closer to performance dates.
Duration: 2 months(April 3rd-June 6th) Funding Source: Proposition 28 Arts Education
Position Overview: The Reader’s Theater Enrichment Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to prepare students for the end-of-year theatrical production, where students bring literature to life on stage. This position supports Fuente Nueva’s commitment to arts education and cultural enrichment.
Essential Duties:
- Design and lead theater arts instruction that engages students in dramatic interpretation, movement, and performance skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to select and adapt literary works for theatrical presentation
- Create age-appropriate activities that develop students’ confidence in public speaking and performance
- Support students in character development and dramatic interpretation
- Integrate Spanish language opportunities within theater instruction when possible
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages creative expression
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in theater arts education or production
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-age students
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about reader’s theater format
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish language skills
- Experience with elementary school theatrical productions
- Background in movement, dance, or music
- Experience with set design, props, or theatrical technical elements
Schedule: 10 hours per week, to be arranged in coordination with school administration and classroom schedules. May include some after-school hours as needed for rehearsals.
