Dear Families,
On behalf of all of us at Fuente Nueva we welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! We still have some summer weeks ahead so I hope you are taking in as much sunshine and relaxation as possible. As we move into the coming school year we are excited to continue to focus on student learning in a physically and emotionally safe school environment where students are empowered to learn and grow.
First, thank you for your patience as we adapt to the current landscape of requirements. I know many of you have been curious about what to expect and the hope is that this email provides you a snapshot of our planning for the upcoming school year. As you know, guidelines are still shifting and could change as time moves along.
As per the California State guidelines we are offering in-person learning for all students with a limited independent study program. There are new stricter guidelines for independent study. The FNCC will be considering this policy at a meeting on 8/18/21 at 5:15pm. The agenda and packet will be posted on the
main page of our website by Monday 8/16/21. Reach out to
info@fuentenueva.org for meeting information.
The daily schedule will return to what was in place in previous years. The parent calendar that includes daily schedules for each grade can be found on our school
website through this link. School begins at 8:30 for all students with a variety of dismissal times based on grade level. More information will be coming about arrival times and pick/up and drop off procedures.
After and before school care is a program that we deeply wish to offer. At this time we
do not have any applicants for our Extended Day Director position, Before Care Leaders and only one application for Extended Day Assistants.
Information about the positions can be found here. Please spread the word, we can only offer the program if we have employees to staff them.
Safety protocols will be followed similarly to what was in place last year. We are in the process of updating all of our plans and will have them
posted on the website within the next week. Universal masking, regular cleaning, staff vaccination verification, ventilation through hepa filters and open windows, use of outdoor classrooms and physical distancing as appropriate are the main strategies in place to reduce risk while on campus.
Universal masking will be required for all students, staff, and limited visitors while on campus both indoors and outdoors. Masks will be available to those who need them. During meals, students will be outdoors when possible, sedentary, and 6ft from others. Mask breaks will be available to students who need one.
We have certainly learned how to be flexible and nimble in the age of COVID-19 and the start of the school year asks us to use our knowledge and remain ready to change with new guidance and rules as they emerge. With the new variants circulating we anticipate that we will continue to receive new information and will work diligently to keep families up to date.
With warm regards,
Directora Beth
